The Art of Design
Poster speaking about the relationship between the fine arts (painting, drawing, sculpting, etc.) and graphic design. There is a lot of arguing over whether graphic design is a legitimate artform due to the commerical nature of our work. The argument that I usually present to those who would say “no” is that works that would be considered fine art would generall be considered to be created in a certain style (pop art, surrealism, etc.). If they are doing that, then they aren’t really doing anything other than following a set of guidlines that have been *gasp* designed. So to say that design isn’t art is to say that they are not making art either.
